Energy Saving Ideas

Having solar installed is a big step to reducing your impact on the environment, and to saving money on your utility bills, but there are many other things that can be done with little or no cost. Below are some energy saving tips which everyone can do with hardly any effort or commitment.

ü      Fit a Regulator controller to your boiler from only £450

ü      Turning down the thermostat by just 1°C can reduce an average heating bill by as much as 10%.

ü      Only boil as much water as required when boiling the kettle.

ü      Turn appliances completely off instead of leaving them on standby.

ü      Turn lights off when you leave a room.

ü      Draw curtains at night to keep the warmth in and the cold out.

ü    Using energy saving light bulbs can save up to £60 over the life time of the bulb.

ü      A dripping hot water tap wastes energy and in one week wastes enough hot water to fill half a bath, so fix leaking taps and make sure they're fully turned off!

ü      Insulate your loft. Installing a good quality loft insulation can save you up to 30% off of your heating cost as over a 1/4 of all heat loss in an average home is through the roof.

ü      The sun is the most readily available source of heat there is - and it’s free! So make the most of it by opening internal doors of any rooms which get more sun than others and let the warm air travel through your home.
